Tsavo West National Park is a part of the big Tsavo National Park conservation area, the whole ecosystem covers an area space of approximately 2100 square, Tsavo west occupies the larger part of the park about 9054 square kilometres, it is famous for its high concentration of redbrick African elephants, it was initially a known place of the history of man-eaters during the construction of the railway, however as time passed by it is one of the safest places on your Kenyan safari. The park is located along the southern border of the country with Tanzania and close to the Indian Ocean.
Tsavo West National Park is separated from the rest of Tsavo by the A109 highway that connects Nairobi to Mombasa, it is home to several animal species including the so-called big four of the wilderness, most of the park area is decorated in volcanic features, for example, the Mzima springs, rocks, shetani Lava flows which were named by the locals to simply mean “devil” because they witnessed the eruption. The park communities are surrounded by the Masai Patrolists who are said to be the original inhabitants of the park they are pastoralists in nature.
