Rwanda is a beautiful landlocked country in central east Africa bordered by Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, and Tanzania it is famous for the Mountain gorilla species found in the volcanic national park north of Rwanda, and wildlife experiences in the Akagera national park, despite the country being known for its vast animal species, it is also a home of art! The old traditional style of Rwanda is just superb presenting a unique art and design which is represented right from house designs, to weaving angelic baskets and art pieces. Below are several art galleries in Rwanda showcasing the beautiful art pieces put together for display by local artists.

Inema Art Center is situated in Kigali city created as a result of helping young talented artists show their great works to the world, it was an initial program of 2 brothers who came together and formed a  platform for emerging artists to exhibit their great works, the gallery is a world of paintings and sculptures, they offer more extra activities besides showcasing pictures for example painting classes, a café where visitors can grab a cup of coffee, workshops, visitors to the art centre are allowed to engage in the painting with local artists.

Rwanda Art Museum is located in Kigali, it used to be the presidential museum but now serves the purpose of art display, they showcase contemporary art of Rwanda and beyond, the creative art of Rwanda is shown in the museum,  tracing back to the ancient times of art to today, while at the museum you will have the chance to see the remains of the plane that crashed during in 1994 it is said that from here is when tragedy befell Rwanda as thousands of people including innocent children and women who lost their lives as a result of the war.

Niyo Art Gallery was established as a way of helping disadvantaged children in Rwanda, funds received from the gallery go back to support street children in Rwanda, it was founded by Niyonsenga teaching street kids about music, drama, and a platform to showcase their talent in creative arts, the art centre is located in Kacyiru in the city centre, it is a recommendable place to visit for artworks in Rwanda, the art Gallery is open from a morning at 8:00 am until 8:00 pm east African time.

Ivuka Arts Gallery is one of the finest art centres in Kigali, it was founded in 2007 to introduce modern art to the perfect historical art of Rwanda, the art centre provides an opportunity for young talented artists in the heart of Rwanda, the art gallery features sculptures, paintings, drawings from several artists visitors to the art centre have a chance to engage in the creative process, learn the difficulties involved in the painting.

In conclusion, these and many more art centres can be visited during a Kigali city tour, other places to see include the Kigali genocide memorial, the Kimironko local market, as well as the volcanoes national park for mountain gorillas.
