The best time to Visit Amboseli National Park is throughout the year depending on what your interest is to the national park. the 392 square kilometre national park was gazette in 1974 as a national park and declared a UNESCO world heritage site as a way of protecting animal species that live in the biodiverse ecosystem, it is home to the long-tusked African elephants (Loxodanta Africa) these are present in large numbers and are most present in the ecosystem, it is being managed by the Kenya Wildlife service and with no doubt one of the top visited national parks.

Amboseli National Park is a known destination to spot the so-called big five of the wilderness (African elephants, lions, leopards, Rhinos and Buffaloes) , other animals present in the park include Zebras, Masai giraffes, wildebeests, spotted hyenas, Jackals, impalas, cheetahs, warthogs, waterbucks, to mention a few, and over 400 species of birds have been recorded here some of which are endemics to the destination, expect to see pelicans, African fish eagles, harrier hawks, plovers, greater and lesser flamingoes, water hens, pigeons, ground hornbills, sunbirds among others most of these birds are commonly spotted around water sources.

The best time to visit Amboseli National Park can be any time of the year but best during the dry season, the park receives a shorter dry season in December, February and January, and the longest dry season happens in June, July, August, September and October, there is little or no rainfall during this time and it is also referred to as a peak /high tourism season,  during this time it is the busiest period and when the park receives a large number of travellers, the trails of the ecosystem are dry which makes accessing the park easily, the grasses thin out and most animal species gather around water sources. The issue with visiting during the dry season is that accommodation rates go higher as well as the tour costs. There is a high chance of reduced Malaria spread because most of the water sources are dried out.

The wet season in the months of November, April, and March, Maybe the best time to see birds in the conservation area, it is a fruiting season which attracts several migratory species, bird types that can be spotted include steel blue whydah, African fish eagles, swamp hens, African harrier hawks, yellow-necked spur fowl, common redshank to mention a few, it is a time of discount and recommendable more so for travellers on budget, the months of  October-November would be the most ideal to consider when looking at having a budget and yet midrange or Luxury safari experience. During the wet season expect a few challenges for example game activities being interrupted by rainfall, and slippery trails.

In conclusion, when visiting the Amboseli National Park, it is advisable to use a 4×4 wheel car drive to beat the tough terrain of the African wilderness, there is available accommodation in the park ranging from the best budget to luxury.
