Nairobi National Park is one of the most accessible conservation areas of Kenya, it is set in the southern outskirts of Nairobi city covering an area space of approximately117kilometers square, it is one of the smallest conservation areas in Africa and the only national parks in the city, it is home to several wildlife species including the so-called big five of the wilderness (African elephants, Buffaloes, lions, leopards and Rhinos).  The view of the several mammal species present in the park at the backdrop of skyscrapers of Nairobi city is a thrilling experience.

Nairobi National Park is situated on the outskirts of Nairobi City about 7 kilometres away, there are several other wildlife species in the national park besides the big five of the wilderness, for example, the Masai Giraffes, zebras, elands, hyenas, blue wildebeests, grants gazelles, common elands, olive baboons, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs to mention a few that are present in the park and over 400 species of birds can be seen while in the conservation area, for example, Kori bustard, lesser kestrel, martial eagles, white-headed vultures, African fish eagles, African harrier hawks, secretary bird among other species.

Best time to visit Nairobi National Park is all year round depending on what you are doing in the national park, it is generally best to explore during the dry season between December-February and June-September when the trails of the park are dry and easy to access, grasses are shorter and mammal species gather around water sources which enhances views of animal species. This time is also a high tourism season hence expect to encounter several other travelers in the national park. The downside of the peak season is that it comes with high accommodation and tour costs hence it is important to book in time to avoid missing out and any inconveniences.

If you prefer less crowds, visiting during the wet season is the best time to visit Nairobi National Park, the season runs in April, May and November, the park is at full green with more birds compared to other seasons, the green season is the best time to go birding when the conservation area receives migratory species. It also comes with low cost in tours and accommodation facilities, despite it being a low chance time to view animal species.

Best time to Visit Nairobi National Park is a great time to aim at doing tourism activities in the conservation area forexample game drives, which are conducted in sessions, in the morning, afternoon and evening times in search of wildlife species, the park is a haven of birds there are over 400 species of birds that have been recorded in here to date some of which are endemics to the region. Visit an important monument site where the former president of Kenya burnt lots of ivory obtained from the fake trade of Rhinos.
