Tsavo West National Park is located in the southern part of Kenya along the borders with Tanzania, it is known for its high concentration of red brick African elephants. The park is part of the larger ecosystem of Tsavo National Park and is being managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service. It was established as a result of protecting animal species from poaching,and environmental pressure covering an area space of approximately 9054 square kilometres. Tsavo West National Park is angelically placed with several tourist attractions including the Mzima hot springs, the Shetani lava rocks, volcanic cones, and wildlife of the park. To the south, the park is underlined by the river Tsavo a seasonal river of the park.

Tsavo West National Park harbours several animal species for example lions, leopards, waterbucks, elands, hartebeests, wild dogs, buffaloes, zebras, and giraffes to mention a few, over 500 species of birds have been recorded in the conservation area some of which are endemics to the destination. Things to do in Tsavo West National Park include visiting the Mzima waterfalls, the Rhino sanctuary, game drives, guided nature walks, and night game drives. The combination of the presence of many tourist attractions and activities in the park gives the thought of when is the best time to visit the park.

The best time to visit Tsavo West National Park is all year round depending on what you will be doing in the conservation area, every time of the year is amazing in its way however the best is during the dry season between December -February and June-September, during this time the park receives less rainfall which makes trails dry and easy to access, this simply makes it easy to participate in tourism activities, for example, game drives these are conducted using 4×4 wheel car drives through the well-distributed trails of the park.

During the dry season, grasses thin out and water is left in a few permanent waterholes which gather animal species at one point and are easy to look out for, the downside of the best season to visit the national park is that it comes with high tourism costs and accommodation comes more highly-priced compared to other seasons, it is advisable to book tours in advance during the dry season for proper planning and to avoid missing out.

The wet season is an all-green environment it is the best time to visit the national park for birds, the region receives some bird species including migratory species during this time, it is a time when ours are discounted despite it being challenging to see animals, accommodation facilities offer low cost on tours during the wet season, this happens in April, May, November and October.

In conclusion, Tsavo West National Park can be visited anytime of the year, it takes approximately 5-6 hours to drive to the national park or flights can be arranged to the nearest airstrip in the conservation area.
