Tsavo West National Park is situated in the southern part of Kenya along its borders with Tanzania. It is one of the most thrilling destinations of the country and part of the largest and oldest conservation area of Kenya the Tsavo National Park, it used to be a scary place because of the history of man-eaters during the construction of the East African railway, however, it is one of the most amazing safe destinations to consider on your Kenyan Safari. Tsavo West National Park is home to all the big five of wildernesses (African elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and Rhinos), it is famous for its red dusty elephants which are present in large numbers.

One of the most popular activities to do while at the destination is game drives in Tsavo West National Park, this is one of the most thrilling experiences, they are done using 4×4-wheel car drives characterized by their open roof with space to view animal species and photography. The cars ought to be strong enough to beat the toughness of the African wilderness. Game drives are conducted in sessions, in the morning, afternoon,and evening times, the national park is one of the few places where doing night game drives is allowed.  The best time to do game drives is in the morning hours when animals are most active, all game drives of the national park are guided by an experienced park ranger.

Game drives in Tsavo West National Park are done for 2-3 hours however it is possible to conduct drives all day in search of animal species through the well-distributedgame trails of the park, it is possible to have an all-day drive in the park expect to see buffaloes, elephants, zebras, impalas, dikdik, warthogs, gazelles, giraffes, topis to mention a few.

Game drives in Tsavo West National Park offer rewarding views of wildlife, they can be done any time of the year but are best during the dry season between the months of December-February and June-September when the trails of the park are much drier and easier to access,the dry season is a busy time of the wilderness which is also referred to as a peak tourism season.

Despite it is best to do game drives during the dry season, it is also possible to do the game drives in the wet season, however, these come with quite some difficulty, animal species to be spotted are fewer compared to the dry season however this time is beautiful and all green.

Besides game drives in Tsavo West National Park, other things to do in the conservation area include visiting the Mzima waterfalls, the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, visit the Shetani lava flow, which is the longest flow of Lava in the park, it was named Shetani a word from the local language of the surrounding to communities that simply means “Devil” this is because they witnessed the eruption.  Cultural encounters in the community are ideal, you will get soaked in the culture of the communities.
