Getting to Murchison Falls National Park is a simple uncomplicated process because of the well-developed road network to the destination, Murchison Falls National Park is the largest and oldest conservation area which can be accessed by road or by flight from the Entebbe International Airport or Kampala Kajjansi. The park is governed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority,situated in the Nwoya district. It is Surrounded by the Karuma and Bugungu game reserves together they form a large space of protected areas compared to other national parks. The park is bisected into 2 by the Victoria Nile forming the northern and southern banks.

Murchison Falls National Park was gazette in 1952 to protect the many species of wildlife that call this home, the vast biodiverse environment is home to several animal species and birds along the floor of the great Albertine rift valley region within the park there is a chance to meet Lions, antelopes of different species, hippos, giraffes, elephants among others. Murchison Falls is the centre of attraction in the national park, it is one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls with its waters flowing into Lake Albert.

Getting to Murchison Falls National Park is not as challenging because of the several routes connecting to the conservation area, the access gates of the park surround it, and by road, the park takes approximately +/-6 hours to drive to the national park journey can be done on self-drive or hiring a private tour operator to take you there, the routings of access can take less or more hours depending on where you reach the latest one can enter the park is at 16:00hrs as per the Uganda wildlife Authority rules and regulations.

By flight, Murchison Falls National Park can be accessed from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Kampala to land at the Pakuba airstrip, Bugungu or the Chobe airstrip, it is convenient for travelers who have less time to use the road and would like to get there on time, inter park transfers can be on a schedule or charter flight option depending on the guest preference.

Accessing the national park requires you to have paid the park entrance and conservation fees which are mandatory to the Uganda Wildlife Authority, $45 for foreign non-residents, $ 35 for foreign residents, and 25,00 shillings for Uganda citizens there are several game activities to participate in when you get to the national park including game drives, boat cruises, guided nature walks, birding, and chimpanzee tracking in the Budongo forest. The park can be visited all year round but is best during the dry season between December -February, and June- September.
