Gorilla Permit Fees in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are the amount of money one is required to pay to the Uganda Wildlife Authority to be allowed to track mountain gorillas, when you think of planning your Uganda safari featuring mountain gorillas, it should be at the back of your mind that these fees are mandatory and that the activity is not possible without a permit. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the few places in the world to find mountain gorillas, these can only survive in highland areas, of the 1000 species left in the wild half of the world’s remaining population is in the conservation area, they have a slow rate of multiplication, hence fewer in number, gorillas do live in families of up to 20 members these are led by a male silverback, other family members include infants, black backs and Juveniles. Gorillas are allowed to be tracked by all visitors that come to the national park except for those below the age of 15 years, gorilla rules and regulations have been put in place to be followed by everyone at the destination some of these include, no visitors with communicable diseases like flu are allowed to track, a distance of at least 7 meters is to be kept while with the gorillas, human waste to be buried 7m deep in the ground, feeding the primates is prohibited and taking flush photography.
Gorilla permit fees in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority team, these are charged as $700 for foreign non-residents, $600 for foreign residents, and 250,000 shillings for East African citizens, this is when guests are to spend hour with the mountain gorillas, for travelers who would like to spend more time with gorillas it is advisable to book the gorilla habituation process, they get to spend almost all day with the gorillas together with researchers and guides, the process is charged $1,500 for foreign non-residents, $1,000 for foreign residents, and 750,000 shillings for East African citizens. Permit fees include park entrance and conservation fees, guide fees, and armed Uganda wildlife rangers. Other services to be paid for on the ground include porters which normally charge an amount between $20-$25, sedan chairs offered to elderly travelers whose dream is to see the gorillas but cannot make it to the region it is usually charged $300 per trek.
Besides mountain gorillas, the forest is home to the Batwa a group of the last short-structured people in Uganda, they lived in the forest however due to conservation purposes they were evicted and hence continued living in the surrounding areas, a visit to Batwa is charged $35. Bwindi impenetrable national park can be accessed by air from Entebbe International Airport, domestic flights can be arranged on schedule or charter to land in Kisoro or Kihihi airstrip, the flight takes approximately 2 hours weather dependent.
