Lake Mburo National Park is Uganda’s smallest savannah national conservation area, it is visited most of the year situated between Kampala and Mbarara highways, most of the parking area is occupied by water about 20 % of it, the combination with marshy swampy areas, and rivers form a large wetland area registered as an important birding area of Uganda, the park is strategically located in the western part of Uganda, it is a break journey to most of the western parks including the Bwindi impenetrable national park and the Kibale forest national park the park is being managed by the Uganda wildlife authority.

Lake Mburo National Park was first gazette in 1963 as a controlled hunting area, and grazing ground for the Bahima natives for their long-horned cattle, the history of the 370 square Kilometer national park has been eliminated over time, thanks to continued conservation, it has been restored from time to time, it is home to unique Zebras, buffaloes, elands, waterbucks, hippos, topi and over 315 species of birds it is no large mammal zone like elephants and hence a growing beautiful forest and woodland, not to forget the savannah grassy land. The angelic park is named after Lake Mburo along which are a variety of species of birds, in marshy swampy areas there is a chance to see the critically endangered species of the shoe bill stock and the African fin foot.

How to reach the park is in 2 ways, one can decide to drive or fly to the destination, it is rare incidences that travelers fly to the park, and they mostly drive to the conservation area, it takes approximately 228 kilometers from Entebbe around 5 hours drive to the national park, from Kampala. The park can be accessed from the western part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park it takes +/- 6 hours to arrive at the destination, it is always a beginning tour point or end as it is relaxing after a long Uganda safari. Access points inside the park include the Kyanyanshra gate and the Nshara gate.

There are flights arranged from the Entebbe International Airport to land at the Mbarara airstrip, which is the closest airstrip to the national park, flights can be scheduled or Charter flights arranged by the domestic flight handlers through your tour operator. Companies like Fly Uganda reach the destination, there are also inter-park transfers on flights for example to the Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip in southwestern Uganda, travelers can be transferred to the Kidepo airstrip as well. Travelers can access the park from Queen Elizabeth National Parkvia Mbarara and Ishaka in western Uganda. Travelers from Kibale Forest National Park can access the park from Ibanda and Rushere.
