Lake Natron is a unique amazing rift valley Saline Lake is an important Ramsar site of Tanzania a breeding place for Flamingoes, it is strategically placed along the northern circuit of the country. Visiting Lake Natron is a perfect combination with other destinations for example the Serengeti National Park for big game and Lake Manyara for tree-climbing lions on your Tanzanian safaris. Lake Natron is rich in minerals it is known to the locals as deadly because it is said that its waters are poisonous and animals that try to drink it end up dead or turned into mummies, it shifts with colour due to PH- and is sometimes the red or green, status of the Lake is influenced by the presence of an active volcano known to the locals as Mountain Odoinyo Lengai, it is also nicknamed “Mountain of God”

How to reach Lake Natron begins with the smallest thought of visiting the region and what is there to see, there are thousands of Flamingoes and other bird species present here, and a few growing vegetation, for example, dessert roses, cyperuslaevigatus, which can survive saline soil, can be sighted, the topography of the region is highlighted with its untold beauty,it is a region of finding features that have existed over years and the evolution of mankind. The beautiful lake lies at the lowest point of the rift valley at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, the waters of the lake are drained by tributaries decorated in Algae, and flamingoes present here have strongly adapted to the nature of the lake.

How to get to Lake Natron is most beautiful through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro craters, the drive is via Mtowambu, and the scenery is amazingly beautiful to experience, from Serengeti, it takes approximately 6 hours drive to the destination, it is possible to drive straight from Arusha for approximately 3 hours drive to the destination. There are 2 routes used to reach the Lake from Arusha, The first is via Mto wa Mbu, and the other is through the western route of Longidoand west Kilimanjaro the second route is more scenic but longer, takes approximately is 7 hours drive to the destination.

TThere are no direct flights to the destination however guests can fly into Ngorongoro after which do an adventure drive to Lake Natron. The Lake can be visited any time of the year but is best during the dry season between December-February and June-September, this is also referredto as a busy tourism season in Tanzania as a whole.

Things to do while at Lake Natron include, guided nature walks, scenic views of the Great Rift Valley region, visitingSoda Lake, birding experience on the Lake, and Hiking the Oldonyoialso known as the mountain of God it takes 2-3 days doing the hike, upon reaching the summit the views of the surrounding communities and the peaks of Mountain Kilimanjaro is exclusively beautiful.
