Zanzibar is a stunning destination also known as the Spice Island, it is made of islands at the edge of Tanzania and the Indian Ocean,  many people commonly mistake the island for be state of its own but it is part of Tanzania despite it having its ruler, Zanzibar got famous due to its slave trade transaction point, it was later until slavery was abolished that it was known for its stunning beauty, placed a few kilometers from the land area of Tanzania, many travelers connect to Zanzibar through flying to the nearest airstrip but also one can take a ferry from Dare Salam.

Zanzibar is made up of 3 major Islands Pemba Island, Mafia Island, and Ugungja Island despite them having other smaller islands, the capital of Zanzibar is the stone town around which many activities are done, and the vast old style of the city is not to miss up to its friendly people of Zanzibar, they are a mixed race with a fusion of cultures Africans, Indians and Arabs. Zanzibar is a beautiful place to see primates for example the critically endangered red colobus monkeys in the Jozani forest, other species of animals that can be seen on the island include dolphins, and colored fish types to mention a few, it is said that there were leopards at the island but of late there no signs if they left or are still around.

How to reach the island can be by ferry or by flying to the destination’s nearest airport Zanzibar Airport,or the Karume International Airport, which is approximately 3 miles away from Stone Town, it is from here that tour leaders or lodge representatives will transfer you to your respective lodges. Fights come in from all parts of East Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, although there are a fewdirect flights and hence one has to first reach Dara salaam or Mosh.  There are several domestic flights to the destination flying from major towns like Dares Salam, Arusha, and Moshi. International direct flights include flights from Nairobi Kenya, quarter, china, Oman muscat, Ethiopia, and several other destinations.

How to reach Zanzibar by ferry begins in Dare Salaam, it is a beautiful way to get to the islands, from the mainland, and this is recommendable best during the dry season, it takes +/- 2 hours to ride along the beautiful ocean crossing over, it is advisable to book ferry tickets in time to avoid missing out, visitors taking the ferry are required to pay tickets, and also present their passport and yellow fever certificate, visitor luggage is brought to the dock in cages at the stone town where guests find it.

The best time to go to Zanzibar is during the dry season between the months of December -and February when the winds are less strong, it is also the best time to do the many tourism activities in Zanzibar, and is a busy tourism season as well. There are vast accommodation facilities that offer guests places to stay ranging from the best budget to luxury.
