Nairobi City is a busy hub centre of Kenya and is the capital city, it is located in the south-central part of the country and is a major economic, political, and culture, it comprises a fusion of cultures from several parts of the country and neighbouring countries of Uganda and Tanzania, it is home to important landmarks in the country including the Museums storing historical findings, hotels, restaurants, and Nairobi national park East Africa’s only national park in the city. The city is a vibrant innovative town constructed on a plan withskyscrapers and a perfectly demarcated road network. Nairobi is a major entry point most of the visitors on a Kenya safari arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and spend a day or 2 in the city.
Nairobi is majorly termed “the safari capital of Kenya”, it was founded in 1899 as an administrative deport for the Kenya-Uganda Railway, the city is named after a local phrase of the Masai people “Enkare Nyirobi” from a waterhole means a place of cool waters, the town became a capital of the Republic of Kenya in 1963 lying along Nairobi river covering an area space of approximately 684 square kilometres. It is comprised of many parks for example Uhuru Park, JeevangeeGardens, City Park, and bomb blast memorial park, National Park, restaurants, culture, shopping centres, sports for example golf and horse racing to mention a few.
Nairobi City is filled with many things to do both during the day and night time, travellers to the destination can indulge and enjoy attractions from wildlife in Nairobi National Park,the conservation area is situated within the city 7 kilometreson the outskirts of the town, it is home to abundant wildlife species including waterbucks, giraffes, olive baboons, waterbucks, elands, hyenas, lions, leopards, impalas, jackals, warthogs, zebras and over 500 species of birds have been recorded in the national park to date, it is a great place to go for game drives, guided nature walks, wildlife views, and birding safaris within the national park.
Visit the Sheldrick elephant orphanage, these are home to orphaned elephants from different places in Kenya, it is one of the most successful rescue places for African elephants (Loxodanta Africana), it is a place of touching memories, the nursery cares for orphaned baby elephants, handling them until they are old enough to be transferred back into the Tsavo National Park, visits are done beginning from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm daily for an hour.
The giraffe centre breeds the endangered Rothchilds giraffes, it is home to not only giraffes but also other animal species, for example,warthogs and leopard tortoises living within the area, visits are to encourage the conservation of animal species and guests have a chance to engage in behind the scenes experience, for example, feeding the giraffe and coming up close to the animals.
Visit the Nairobi National Museum, one of the largest museums of East Africa, it collects, a rich heritage, natural history, culture and art,the museum exhibits traditional art crafts, archaeological findings, fossils, minerals and extraordinary specimens of native wildlife of the country, it shares knowledgeof indigenous plant species, and art gallery from a collection of local artists.
