Nairobi National Museum is a wonderful place in the country exhibiting a wide range of cultural and natural history, it is located off Waiyaki Way approximately a 15-minute’ drive from Nairobi city centre, it was opened in 1930 to collect, preserve, and document the history of the country, geological findings, and natural endemics. The museum was started in 1910 under the East African and Uganda National History Society. The Museum sparked off as a small house named Nayayo House and was later transferred to a bigger space where the present-day Nairobi Serena Hotel, was permanently constructed on Museum Hill and was open to the public in 1930.

The Nairobi National Museum was constructed with the idea of the link of four natural aspects, including nature, culture, history, and art, various specimens have been collected and preserved in the museum including indigenous mammal species of the country, they are several galleries exhibiting the cradle of mankind, visitors have the chance to interact with stories of early man and stone age tools that have neem perfectly stored. Visiting the Museum is any day of the week from Monday to Sunday 8:30 am -to 5:30 pm it is open to the public all year round including public holidays and weekends, there are night visits that are arranged for a minimum of 10 people, with this option you require to make reservations with the team at the museum.

Around the Nairobi Museum are super beautiful botanical garden, the garden boasts 100 exotic species and several indigenous plant species, and it offers great encounters for guided tours to schools, groups who come to the ecosystem to learn and support science, to learn the knowledge of adaptation, ecology, breeding and biodiversity.

There are outdoor sculptures depicting culture, in the museum has a shop with African artefacts, books, an early man gallery, and African jewellery for sale that you can take home as souvenirs, the museum features an onsite restaurant

The Nairobi National Museum can be visited any time of the year but is best during the dry season between December-February and June-September, during this time is regarded as a high tourism season therefore expect to see other travelers to the destination.  It can however be visited any time of the year due to its strategic location. The Museum is the best-stop destination for visitors who would like to have a feeling of the rich cultural history of Kenya.
