Lake Mburo National Park is the nearest conservation area in Uganda strategically located along the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara highway, it is underlined by Precambrian rocks above which is a growing differed biodiverse ecosystem, it is home to a number of wildlife, most of the parking area is covered in water bodies together which they form a large wetland area, the presence of tourism attractions of the park (Lake Mburo, Flora, Fauna, Saltlick, forest) makes it an ideal location to participate in the tourism activities of the park, these include guided nature walks, game drives, horseback riding, boat cruise along the lake Mburo, cycling tours among other activities.

Game drives in Lake Mburo National Park take place along the well-maintained game tracks of the national park, these are done in sessions, in the morning beginning at 6:00 am East African time in search of morning risers, expect to see animals like hippos, and warthogs, giraffes, waterbucks, bushbucks, elands, zebras, topi, reedbucks, oribi, Uganda Kobs, African buffaloes and over 300 species of birds,  afternoon game drives last for 2-3 hours in search of wildlife these usually end in sundowners, the conservation area is one of the few places of Uganda to do night game drives in search of nocturnal species.

Guided nature walks are conducted with the company of an experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority guide, In the absence of large mammals like elephants, it is free and safe to take a walk but with the company, along the trailsof Rwonyo, and the salt lick trail, you will get to learn deep about the plant species and animals the walks begin at 7:00 am East African time when the sun is not out and so dry, the walk through the park will get you closer to wildlife and to places where vehicles can not reach.

Horseback riding is one of the most beautiful and only places to see and do horseback riding these safaris are arranged safaris using horses, the activity is an initiative of the Mihingo lodge, it is done by both beginners and experienced riders,  there a maximum weight of 100 kilograms pe rider per horse, animals tend to feel more comfortable with the horse around them compared to when you are using vehicles, expect to see zebras up close, elands, African buffaloes, waterbucks and birds singing swiftly in the air. Boat cruise along Lake Mburo, the conservation area is named after Lake Mburo which is also said to have attained its name from the park native Mburo, this will have you enjoy the best of the park overlooking the vast dotted savannah ecosystem, the cruise takes 2-3 hours on boat, expect to see water animals like hippos, crocodiles, birds like the African martial eagles, pelicans, sunbirds among others.

Lake Mburo National Park can be accessed through the Kampala Express highway to Mbarara through Masaka, it is the closest to the city centres and a quick gateway on your African safari, the best time to visit the park is during the dry season between December-February and June -September.
