Nairobi city is a vibrant and dynamic city and the capital of Kenya. It is the largest of cities in the country, the word Nairobi was derived from a waterhole in the Masai language “Enkare Nyorobi” which means cool waters, the city was founded in 1899 as a railway camp during the construction of the Uganda-Kenya Railway, the town as grown so much since then and is a busy business and trading centre. Nairobi city is the major entry point of Kenya, travelers reach the country through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Visit the Nairobi National Park, the conservation area is the only one that is situated within the city in East Africa, it is located 7 kilometres to the outskirts of the city and is being managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service, it is home to abundant wildlife species including the so-called big four of the wilderness( African buffaloes, Rhinos, leopards, lions), it is one of the few places of the country with a large population of black rhinos, other species present in include impalas, Zebras, elands, cheetah’s, hippos, wildebeests, and over 400 species of birds have been recorded in the conservations area. While at the Nairobi National Park, do not miss game drives, these are conducted in sessions in the morning, afternoon and evening time in search of the vast wildlife species.

Visit the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, they take care of orphaned elephants from various national parks until they are at the right age to be transferred to Tsavo National Park, the orphanage can be visited for an hour during the day between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm east African time, an hour is allowed to the public and in case on is adopting or sponsoring the project they are given a provision to check in with an appointment.

Visit the  Nairobi National Museum, this is one of the largest museums of East Africa, it collects, a rich heritage, natural history, culture and art, the museum exhibits traditional art crafts, archaeological findings, fossils, minerals and extraordinary specimens of native wildlife of the country, it shares knowledge of indigenous plant species, and art gallery from a collection of local artists, there is a warehouseknown as Go –down Arts center for further art pieces, the warehouse exhibits art and performances.
